Essex County Real Property Tax Services is a local government agency that is assigned the task of maintaining the county tax maps, using the most current information available.
Our primary goal is to provide support to the local assessment community so that they, as Assessors, can generate fair and equitable assessment rolls for each town in Essex County. To further aid in the assessment process, our office works as a link with the regional ORPTS office to facilitate a relationship between the State and our Assessors. In addition, we offer services to our 18 towns, 14 school districts and 2 villages, as well as the general public.
Some of these services include:
- Maintaining a GIS database of all tax map parcels within Essex County.
- Processing and printing all town, school and village tax rolls, assessment rolls and tax bills.
- Staff to aid Assessors in data collection and valuation.
- Training for Board of Assessment Review members and Assessors.
- Print tax maps as well as detailed aerial maps with tax map overlays.
- Tailored GIS maps for local municipalities or private use.
- Processing applications for corrections of errors on town/county, school and village tax rolls.
Our office provides support for our local Assessors; we do NOT determine assessments. We are also not responsible for collecting property taxes or maintaining a database of past tax bills. For assistance in these areas, please follow the links below:
